Things To Do:
- Contact physicians/dentists. Get recommendations for colleagues
at the new location. Ask for renewal prescriptions; arrange forwarding
of records.
- Arrange for transfer of school records.
- Throw away, give away, or sell unwanted items in garage, basement
and attic.
- Close out checking and savings accounts.
- Empty safety deposit boxes, inculding stocks, bonds, insurance
policies, title or evidence of ownership, will.
- Make arrangements to transport aluables that household movers
cannot handle. Remember, they have no liability for valuable documents,
currency, stamp or coin collections, and jewelry.
- Notify friend or relative of route you're taking and travel
schedule.
- Make motel or hotel reservations if needed during move.
- Get certified cheque or money order to pay van operators.
- Clean, defrost and thoroughly dry refrigerator the day before
the move.
- Give friends perishables and plants that won't make the trip.
- Leave information pertinent to sale of your home with new owner
or your lawyer.

- Certified cheque in the amount required to close on new home
- Maps
- Cash, money orders or travelers cheques
- Credit cards
- Games for the kids
- First-aid kit
- Snacks
- Food for pets travelling with you
- Jewelry and other valuables
- Items you'll need when arriving a new home (cleaning supplies,
towels, toiletries, light bulbs, and coffee pot)
